Mesa Updated To 13.0.2

I've uploaded Mesa 13.0.2 to deb.c-r-t.tk/. OpenGL 4.5 is already enabled where applicable, so there is no need for MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE and MESA_GLSL_VERSION_OVERRIDE.

Mesa Optimizations Are Coming

Marek Olšák's patches for optimizing shader variants and other stuff in RadeonSI have been accepted in → Mesa-git.

Pontostroy, Phoronix-member and founder of the gaming live distro → "Gears On Gallium" has already noticed a performance boost of 25% by using Marek's patches.

I'd love to see these patches in Mesa 13.0.2 but I don't think this is gonna happen.

Fix: Steam On Newer Distros

If you're running an up-to-date distro or a rolling release like Arch or Debian/unstable, you might encounter some problems with Steam and Mesa.

There's an easy fix if running Steam from a terminal looks like this:

Running Steam on arch rolling 64-bit
STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically
Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(0_client)
libGL error: unable to load driver: radeonsi_dri.so
libGL error: driver pointer missing
libGL error: failed to load driver: radeonsi
libGL error: unable to load driver: swrast_dri.so
libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast

The Steam runtime often contains older libs which won't work with modern distros. It is safe to get rid of them by using the following command: find ~/.steam/root/ \( -name "libgcc_s.so*" -o -name "libstdc++.so*" -o -name "libxcb.so*" -o -name "libgpg-error.so*" \) -print -delete

For the lazy ones (including me) there's a package called script-steam-cleanup in my repository.

Mesa Updated To 13.0.1

Yesterday I've uploaded Mesa 13.0.1 to deb.c-r-t.tk/. OpenGL 4.5 is already enabled where applicable, so there is no need for MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE and MESA_GLSL_VERSION_OVERRIDE.

Due to some malevolent spammers I had to close XMPP account registration on c-r-t.tk. We'll be back soon with captchas.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Arrives Today On Linux

Feral Interactive is going to release → Deux Ex: Mankind Divided for Linux today. Here are the system requirements:

Can you run Deus Ex: Mankind Divided on Linux? The answer will determine the fate of your leisure time.

<br/> You’ll need an Intel Core i3-4130 or AMD FX8350 processor, with 8GB RAM and a 2GB Nvidia 680 graphics card (driver version 367.57). You’ll reach greater heights with an augmented setup: an Intel Core i7-3770K processor and 16GB RAM with a 6GB Nvidia 1060 graphics card (driver version 367.57). Please note that AMD GPUs aren't supported.<br/> <br/> For a stash of classified intel, visit our underground minisite.

Although not officially supported, Deus Ex: MD should run fine on RadeonSI-Cards with Mesa 13.0.0.

Mesa Updated To 13.0.0

Yesterday I've uploaded Mesa 13.0.0 to deb.c-r-t.tk/. OpenGL 4.5 is already enabled where applicable, so there is no need for MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE and MESA_GLSL_VERSION_OVERRIDE.

Mesa 13.0 Has Been Released

Emil Velikov has just announced Mesa 13. It is the most impressive Mesa release so far, bringing OpenGL 4.5 to most drivers (albeit OpenGL 4.5 is still not being exposed due to missing CTS validation) and radv for AMDGPU-users.
